mark weber | keeping warm but staying cool

it’s just cool enough to wear a hat
not that I’m going anywhere
I’d rather stay in
wear my hat indoors
read some of these books that
are piling up
besides, I’ve got a pot of tea brewing
some pinchfaced old goat stepped out of
a time warp the other day
and told me I couldn’t wear my hat
inside the concert hall
incredulous I challenged her, “WHY?”
if this was a stovepipe hat or a ten gallon
I could understand, but this is a beanie, a
knit pullover
she said it was their “policy” at the high school
we were there to hear Bobby Shew & Wayne
Bergeron play some trumpet with
the Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra
and
just to be an asshole I left my hat on
fuck her and fuck that stupid policy
christ-o-mighty, shades of
that locked-down high school I went to
four decades ago, these people need
to take an Ex-Lax, cool out
I feel sorry for the kids, one can only imagine
all the other dumbfounding policies
they have to tiptoe around
geezus christ on a crutch
apparently there’s no policy for interrupting
the hail fellow well met conversation I
was having with the pianist Chris Ishee
in the foyer

STARCH this was a hard winter it seemed to really take something out of us this year I notice it in a lot of people, who look like they been blindsided, shot with buckshot, a little worse for wear then, I wonder if it’s this preposterous person we have as a president and his ridiculous wars, that have wore us down? and the batch of unpromising individuals who are running for president that maybe the idea of hope has had a little of the air let out of it whatever it is even my elder cat Yemmie is showing her... - mark weber | yoga + painting + jazz + traveling by air

Chapbook is a generic term to cover a particular genre of pocket-sized booklet, popular from the sixteenth through to the later part of the nineteenth century. No exact definition can be applied. Chapbook can mean anything that would have formed part of the stock of chapmen, a variety of pedlar. The word chapman probably comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for barter, buy and sell. The term chapbook was formalised by bibliophiles of the nineteenth century, as a variety of ephemera. It includes many kinds of printed material, such as pamphlets, political and religious tracts, nursery rhymes, poetry, folk tales,... - mark weber | Em6
Mark Weber about Mark Weber: Mark Weber grew up in Cucamonga, California, where he threw rocks at freight trains and has the distinct memory of hearing Sam the Sham singing “Wholly Bully” off in the distance, a mile away, over the loudspeakers at Upland Memorial Park’s baseball field, on summer afternoons watching the orange-purple Martian sunsets so prevalent to his smog-encrusted homeland. His alma mater is San Berdoo County Jail where he matriculated in cold turkey. Adovada. He published his first poem when he was 15 and he’s 53 now, and still, he suspects that 90% of everything he’s... - mark weber | something like odysseus
