john yamrus | after work

after work

i come home,
walk into the kitchen
and throw my wallet
on the counter.

then my pens,
my cards
and finally
my keys,
which
slide along the counter,
spin,
do a little dance
and finally
come to a stop.

some day

so will
i.

  • John Yamrus’ poetry never bores me. It has a way of connecting right at the visceral level. As far as I am concerned, he’s one of the essential poets working the line.

  • Todd; thank you for the very kind and undeserved comment…and Klaus…i’d like to thank you for adding me to the site here…i’m honoured. you do a great job and have a sharp eye.

  • Now, I saw you. it was wonderful hearing you say your poetry…i just laugh and wonder about it…

i mean, your poetry never revealed your “inner you” but it really entertained me so well that i’m convince that it’s really is you…
