el sombrero

i suppose what you are asking
where i came from and where i’ve been
what i am doing
i don’t want to be like that
real life is a poem
that when truly lived
drifts away from explanation
in its course toward meaning
played out in eternity
but only everlasting in how we see
i have no credentials or creeds
nor significance from affirmation
my biography is what has influenced me
the solitary sea in solidarity with the moon
under the tang of the sun across the sweltering earth

- trees that sway to beating feet along vibrations of swinging souls amid the concrete breeze of dying spirits in dripping time.
