autism room math class

not knowing how to add
is secondary to not knowing what
adding is

no matter how slowly i explain
that two small numbers
add up to a bigger one
i feel like i am
banging
my head against a
concrete wall
and not leaving a dent

i’m sick of headaches

sick of people using the
label “special ed” as an exuse
not to teach

but sometimes in this
autism room when
i get frustrated
they get frustrated and
“melt-down”s approach

if they say 5+3=7
i say
fuck it
good enough

autism room 2

when i told anthony
to write his name
on the paper
he wrote
“MR BIG BOOB”

okay
i thought
at least he can spell
