CHEAP HOTEL ROOM

How desperate I had been back then
And yet how free, breaking off from conceived
Notions of what it means to be

Overwhelmed by my own world
Fantastical interludes, pale light sifting
Through my hotel room’s curtains
Late nights, early mornings, looking out my
Window at the people passing down below
Wanting for nothing more than to let go
Drifting through vaguely familiar streets
Never stopping once upon my path
Images forever fluctuating in my mind
I couldn’t keep track of night and day
All blending into incertitude
Just a step away, from solitude

Yet everywhere I turned, vibrant
Faces, undiscovered passageways
And that element of chance, that brought
Me further than I ever meant to go
