Three Musicians | Painting by Pablo Picasso
EARLY PICASSO
As a boy
unnamed in conception
you began in your drawings
from your notebooks
those musical notes
alone in persuasion
by your bedstead
in the warmth
of another morning
between two sheets
of your canvas
as the light captures
perspective on canvas
pulsating with new mirrors
through new faces
as in “The Three musicians”
recreating later
the skinny harlequins
of his poet friends
of Appolinaire and Jacob
by keeping an early watch
in a game of life
of new bodily expressions
and esthetic reliefs,
recurrent the abstraction
of contrasting metamorphoses.
