MOONDOG

When Dizzy praised Moondog
and “Sweet Child”
emerged as minimalism
from Hardin, Reich and Glass
out of classic into jazz
my verse radiated
out of early landscapes
red flowers emerged
from the snowed sills
street lights
even out of the ashcan
in optics of Pollock
and Frankenthaler’s
city abstractionism
along my hungry language
rocking my first journals
touching the future Beats
in art, music and poetry
for anyone engaged
in the field painting Sixties
from graffiti words
local colors, and trumpet notes
cradled in one’s hands.
