They made me pay for my bad ways

I was sitting at home, having a smoke
when the authorities, fixing what ain’t broke
barged quite boldly into my house
condemning me as an environmental louse

I was brought up to throw things away
to think of tomorrow not of today
“we have to start somewhere” they said to me
as the tow truck took away my SUV

they took my tv because of what I watch
took the drugs wine beer and scotch
emptied the fridge of all the unhealthy food
forced me to agree for my own good

now I sit here feeling more dead than alive
nothing to drive in–hell, nowhere to drive
nothing to eat, drink, smoke or watch
I don’t like my new world very much
