In the theatre
The sound of underwater
In the choral singers

The dolphin knows the Book of Common Prayer
I’ve heard him read it here

Men Working, the sign
read as I walked outside it
Which is why, I guess

The deer hunter
hidden in a culvert
dressed like the forest

I have half a mind
To tell you what

The milkmaid has soft hands

The moon
a literary device
kicking up dust

beyond the frame
the night
unexplained

abandoned slices in the canvas

the commuter caught the train

the ‘o’ of orange
the ‘o’ of otter,
the ‘o’ of other

a beetle spends its life
in a dead standing tree
without envy

time moves slowly
far off in the distance
someone leaf burning
