Painting by Anton Gericke

LOST AVENUE

Night captures us
I’m playing sax
at the outside cafe
on sidewalks
warming up
near a perplexed traffic
in the easy wind
at edges of your fingers
murdering a croissant
with a bottle of wine
someone left for me
my patience is removed
in the nocturnal crowds
impatient for musical air
from easiness of dusk
all immersed with grass
with a dying red rose
in my lapel
given by a singer
of the blues
unsettling twilight
under a half moon.
