SMOOTH JAZZ

Today it’s the norm
it’s smooth jazz
called life
buzzing in the dorm
it’s a new a age pleasure
with its own
unformed measure
taking the world
by raging storm
still it’s Miles Davis
or Coltrane
who makes me feel sane
included
from nape to brain,
once the minstrel
and medieval chants
made their day
than moral Bach’s partita
to choral display,
then Diaghilev’s
modern dance ballet,
I’m still amazed
at the riffs of the sax
with its tenor laughter
to soar and relax hereafter.
