TO LIVE INSIDE THE POEM IS TO BE AN OUTLAW
to live inside the poem is to be an outlaw
what you need what you got put to the test
been gone so long the night has swallowed you
the skin of things the blood of things
infinity squared and looking back at you
false time and time plays and time is false in play
to live inside the poem is to be an outlaw
what you asked and still remember what you got
i got my wounds come and heal me
the night is swollen and the sky is open
i got my secrets here in the waiting
i got my demon fever
to live inside the poem is to live outside the law
to live inside the poem is to be an outlaw
where will you find your other voice
where will you find your other face
tell me phantom canyon dancer
dancing with your boots on
where will you find your other place
to live inside the poem is to be an outlaw
we are the shadows we are the masks
we are the clocks we are the mirrors
we are the voices in the street
to bleed to need to read the speed
to live inside the poem is to live outside the law
to live inside the poem is to be an outlaw
take your mask and wear it
take your skin and wear it
surround yourself with flames
but do not be alien to the rain
to live inside the poem is to be an outlaw

A poet statement of an anarchic wish for a new manifesto
with a rant inside of language’s need for freedom.
My best,

“to bleed to need to read the speed” wow, what a
great line, Tony!
altho, lately, I’ve been slowing down my read speed
and luxuriating in the words . . . .
that guitar I’m holding is the one I had in high school that I used in a dada noise band 1971
Todd’s expression is priceless
