Empty Nets by Mary Bone

Empty Nets

You were left holding silt
from the river bottom.
Nothing floated to
the top after your nets
were cast.
No gigantic fish emerged
for your table.
The gritty sand held in your hand
is just a taste of something
better coming on
the next excursion.
