GHOSTS

I take your pain and your loneliness
I hold it close
Wish it could fracture into a million pieces
With the pressure of my embrace
But it won’t
You whisper in my ear
And I think about the ghosts
Of my past
The ones I’ve been running from
Since as far back as I can remember
Try and forget but I can’t
Can’t run forever
I wear my guilt like a shroud
Kick the dirt
Bury me in it

unnamedWriting poems since I can remember; living peacefully in Asheville, NC.
