It Goes Like This

Well, it goes like this
sometimes – what we thought
we knew we did not know so well

The plan sinks low
almost at inception, the schedule
cracks and reddens with chagrin

We can devise and assemble
Plan A, Alternate B, Path C
but some months still creep
up, bringing surprises.
