THE HOLE by Ann Christine Tabaka

THE HOLE

I was thoughtlessly placed in a hole,
Neglected and forgotten.
Over the years I have dug myself in,
Deeper and deeper.
Trying to hide my existence from the world,
Feeling quite sorry for myself.
Then you came along,
And provided me with a ladder.
So I began the slow, painful climb upward,
Out of my little rut.
Now when the whole world seems to be caving in around me,
I think of you.
How you cared enough to hold out your hand,
And help me up.
Life is too short,
And I refuse to be buried alive …
Again!
