Waiting for Her by James Dennis Casey IV

Waiting for Her

Trying to find peace
Inside an abandoned fortress
Stuck in permanent
Witching hour
With nothing but ghosts
For company
And a sign on the gate stating
“No Visitors After Midnight”

Waiting for her
The lotus eater
To bring the black
Absinthe spell book
Full of hoaxes
That everyone falls for
With blood in their eyes
In a futile attempt
To free our tired bones

Time is a bandit here
Abandoning stolen predictions
That have yet to come true
Leaving blank on blank
To the imagination
In the prophecy pool
And the odds are against us
