How to Blow Your Brains Out by Bradley Mason Hamlin

How to Blow Your Brains Out

Sometimes
only sadly songs
will do

the upbeat stuff
just too much
to ask
of
the self

“Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down”
bittersweet
creative
lonely

“The Warmth of the Sun”
beautiful
melancholy
wanting

“The Very Thought of You”
tear-invoking
cool
keeping it together

you make
a vodka & crushed ice
throw a lemon
in

if you have to

change the language
to French
German or Spanish

if you have to

listen
to the lyric
the melody
not your malady

haha,
try saying melody
malady

three times fast
after the drinks kick
in

and you know what?

drop
something heavy
down the turn
table
spoke

and go ahead
and snap the fuck out

tell the whole dumb world
to fuckity fuck
fuck off

this is your universe
and your rhythm
is the only
one

that matters
at this moment

1/2/3/4!
bang.
