If Not For Crazy I Would Be Sane by John Patrick Robbins

If Not For Crazy I Would Be Sane

It’s only when I’m breathing do I feel the loss of you.
I hold my breath around others .

Drown the the sorrows and silence those voices in my head a second at a time .

Nobody does grasp the truth of my situation .

And in truth if the shoe were on the other foot I wouldn’t give a damn either .

I played it close and battled my own demons alone as I handled most everything the same way .

I didn’t miss a damn thing unless the world was turning and my eyes were open. .

Misery is a strange mistress indeed .

She was cold and unforgiving .
She reminded me so much of you.

She really fucked me over good in all the worst kind of ways .

The phone rang it broke my self imposed sentence for a second .

“Hello may I speak with Mr Murphy “?

“You could but he is currently all tied up in his twisted sex dungeon slash video store, this is Alfonso the office boy may I be of some assistance “?

The person on the other end of the line just hung up the phone without a speaking single word.

Some people truly needed to find a sense of humor .
And me I just needed to get a life.

I poured a cocktail instead .

Went and checked out a good art film from my in house video store .

It was a romance film minus the bullshit and strictly fucking instead .

I just loved a happy ending .

Hopefully I didn’t forget to return it on time.
The late fees were a real bitch to pay.

Sometimes I had to wonder in my life and ever declining sanity.
Who was truly minding the store ?
