Pyres Settle at the Feet of God Complexes by Adam Levon Brown

Pyres Settle at the Feet of God Complexes

Burning flesh smells
a lot like road rash, except
that the pain is a new sensation,
derived from haunting memories

The midnight oil burns
fluidly, like two doves eyed
across the sky as the volcanic
ash of the cigarette singes hairs

Where there were two,
there is now one,

As the Camel Cigarette
is pushed deeper
into the newly iron-wrought wound

Where there was one,
there is now nothing

As another drag sends
a smoke signal to the Heavens,
asking for release
