This guarded epiphany that grabbed me

In my several senses — it was not
as if your bare ass where hanging out

Like a spice – cabinet display. Some of
saffron — rind scrapings of bitter

Lemon. A small pot of wild honey
with a slight tang of mesquite — a spice –

Cabinet? More a full – stocked pantry
your pantaloons resplendent as a

Cathedral’s sunburst or blown rose
of stained glass, with a sun – lit

Aura — aureoles like brass gongs
…………………………a special temple

The Wings of a dragonfly
………………..there are her pendentives
………………..there are her squinches

Poem taken from ARBELLA poetry zine edited by Tom Obrzut & Anthony George circa 1990
