Emerging Writer

I’ve been called an emerging writer.
I wondered if I had been in a cocoon
for a long time and suddenly emerged.
I was wrapped up in my own little world
and all of a sudden I arrived.
All of these years I had been secretly watching
through a peephole and observing everything.
When I stepped out onto the stage into
the limelight, the applause was deafening.
I spread my wings, this little butterfly
was ready to fly.

  1. Mary, I’ve been emerging since the Fifties and I know some day it will end but writing is a great obsession to help avoid other obsessions that can lead to trouble. i ran into a few of those in the past and hope never to see them again. All the best.

  2. That is so true, Donal. I can certainly relate. Writing is a great obsession. I took a drama class in college and wanted to be the star of stage and screen at one point. This is a great way to connect with other people and perform without a spotlight on you. We continue to emerge. Keep on writing, I enjoy your poetry too. Thanks for the feedback.
