Beached Mermaid
I washed up on the shore
a beached mermaid,
from some long ago folklore.
Seaweed was in my hair,
my side was hurting from
being injured by a sailor’s oar.
Pain was shooting
from my fishtail.
I was hurting to the core.

I have been writing since the age of twelve and have had two books of poetry published. My poems have appeared in journals, magazines, newspapers and online blogs.
