Cut from the Team
Like a paper doll, a dangling
uneasy thread –
that feeling of being on the outs,
standing just beyond the line,
not knowing what the line
even means. Everyone else seems
to know the rules of the game.
There is cheering (for some reason).
It isn’t clear. There should be a book
printed up and passed around.
X + B + 7. Reduce it to a formula for me
so I can understand.
Otherwise it’s the smell of grass,
the feel of sunburn, and a swirl
of motion, determined but foggy.
